Postal A’s Fortieth Anniversary as a MAFCA Chapter

It is an honor to be a part of an organization that has its beginnings over 40 years ago.

Going back in time to February of 1977 when Thurston Twiggs-Smith wrote his first newsletter and sending it to a list of Model A Ford mail truck owners that he had compiled with the help of Gary Grebbien, who at the time had already restored his mail truck.

From that initial newsletter, the group gained additional members and in August of 1977 Rick Black, one of the original 7 members, circulated a petition to MAFCA requesting recognition as a chapter under the name of the Postal A’s Chapter. The required five signers of that petition were Thurston Twiggs-Smith, Rick Black, Aldie Johnson, Richmond Bell and Hugh Pearson.

During a meeting on October 8, 1977 of the MAFCA Board of Directors, the Postal A’s Chapter became official.
